2013 All-Area Girls swimming team

Co-Swimmers of the Year

Taylor Solorio, sr, Highland

She won Central Section Division II championships in the 200 IM (2:05.41) and 100 butterfly (56.63), both in meet-record times that would have easily won D-I titles. She swam every event at least once during the season and went unbeaten. Signed to swim at San Jose State.

Jorie Caneta, jr, Frontier

For the third straight year, Caneta broke her own section record in the 100 breaststroke, this time lowering it to 1:02.89. She was the only Kern County girl to register an automatic All-American time and was also fourth in the D-I finals in the 100 freestyle (53.26).

All-Area Diver of the Year

Carlee Burks, Centennial

Chandler Bullman, sr, Frontier

Besides Caneta and Solorio, Bullman was the only Kern County swimmer to win a section title, doing it in the 100 butterfly (58.54) for the second straight year. She also won Southwest Yosemite League titles in the 200 IM and 100 fly.

Tatum Collatz, soph, Stockdale

Area's top backstroker was seventh in the D-I section finals (1:03.53). She won the SWYL meet in the event in even faster time (1:02.30) and also qualified for the section meet in the 50 freestyle.

Emily Cruz, sr, Centennial

The SWYL champion in the 200 freestyle took 10th in the section meet in the 100 butterfly (1:03.13) despite a torn muscle in her shoulder. Cruz is a two-time first-team All-Area selection.

Sara Klang, jr, Garces

Klang was second to Solorio in the 100 and 200 freestyle at the Southeast Yosemite League finals, and she won the B Final at the D-I section meet in the 200 free (2:02.36). She also was 13th in the 100 free (56.97).

Symantha Lazerson, fr, Bakersfield Christian

Her 25.44 in the 50 freestyle took third at the D-II section finals and was the fastest postseason sprint time in Kern County. She also was third in D-II in the 100 free (54.94). Both of those were school records, and Lazerson helped the Eagles set school records in all three relays, too.

Audrey Willoughby, jr, Liberty

She collected four silver medals from the SWYL meet (200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay) and then won the B Final in the 500 free at the D-I meet (5:29.58) and was 11th in the 200 free (2:04.85).

Lexi Zimmerman, sr, Tehachapi

She was sixth in the section in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.14) and 13th in the 200 IM (2:25.32) after winning the breaststroke title at the SEYL championships.
