You may have chowed down at a July 4 gathering, but if you have a bit more room, check out these local food events this weekend.
Like other Williams-Sonomas across the country this summer, the Bakersfield store is hosting a monthly artisans market, highlighting products from the region. The store invites producers to set up shop for a day to offer samples and discuss and sell their products to customers.
Last month's event featured Bakersfield businesses Window Sill Pie Co., which specializes in seasonal preserves, pies and confections; and Pepper Delight, which sells jams spiced with habaneros; as well as Enzo Olive Oil Co., based out of Madera.
On Saturday, those three businesses return to the Marketplace store along with De Coeur Bake Shop. The brainchild of Courtney Ghilarducci and Mai Giffard, De Coeur caters events and sells baked goods and more through its website, decoeurbakeshop.4ormat.com. The business will be selling six-pack boxes of macarons and mini tarts.
Flavor Awards at Moo
With everybody trying to stay cool this weekend, ice cream sounds like sweet relief. For frozen treats with a side of festivities, head to Moo Creamery, which is hosting its fifth annual Flavor Awards on Sunday.
Known for its own unique flavors, the restaurant has again gathered customer suggestions for its next great scoop. On Sunday, you can enjoy samples of the eight finalist flavors along with a Mexican buffet dinner, according to their Facebook page. The menu includes mini bean and cheese burritos, carnitas and chicken tomatillo tacos, roasted veggie chilaquiles, tostada salad, homemade potato and tortilla chips, salsas and rice and beans.
Dessert is the selection of this year's flavor finalists, which are:
