Myrio Richard's 8th-inning solo home run, his first homer of the season, gave the Stockton Ports a 2-1 victory Wednesday over the Bakersfield Blaze in a California League baseball game at Banner Island Ballpark.

Juan Duran had tied the game 1-1 in the top of the 8th inning with a solo homer.

Ports starter and winner Tanner Peters (3-3) worked five no-hit innings to begin the game. he struck out 10 in eight innings and did not walk a batter.

Blaze starter Carlos Contreras struck out nine in six innings and allowed only two hits, one walk and no earned runs.

The series continues tonight.

Ex-LB St. player plans transfer to CSUB

Deng Deng, a 6-foot-6 forward at Long Beach State last season who scored in double figures 11 times as a true freshman, has left Long Beach and announced on his twitter feed that he will transfer to Cal State Bakersfield.

Deng, from West Valley, Utah, averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last season. His season high was 18 points against Cal State Northridge.

Deng has three years of eligibility remaining.

CSUB spokesman Corey Costelloe said CSUB could not comment on Deng until proper paper work was completed.

BC lineman commits

Ricardo Figueroa, a two-year starting offensive tackle for Bakersfield College, has signed a letter-of-intent with Florida Atlantic from Conference USA.

Figueroa, listed at 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds is a Visalia-Golden West High graduate. He was a second-team All-National Northern Conference selection last season.
