Two people were arrested after a fight in the halls of Rabobank Arena and video of the brawl has gone viral, viewed 3,462 times on Youtube.
The encounter took place during a "Cinco de Mayo Bomb Concert" promoted by radio station Hot 94.1 on Saturday, May 4.
At about 8:15 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department said, officers were directed to an area on the west side of the arena near an alcoholic beverage service cart.
"Upon arrival, officers observed a large crowd and an ongoing fight but officers were able to break up the fight and detained three individuals, later arresting two," BPD spokeswomen Michaela Beard said.
Officers learned that a woman had been standing in line to purchase a beverage when she and Alicia Barrera, 21, got into a shouting match.
A second person, Carloz Rivera, 33, struck the woman in line and both Rivera and Barrera began to fight her.
The name of the woman in line wasn't released by police. It wasn't clear what sparked the altercation.
The video raises the question of why yellow-shirted "Event Staff" employees on the scene didn't try to break up the fight.
Rabobank officials didn't return calls but told KBAK Channel 29 that "the employees in the video are ushers, and it's not their responsibility to intervene when a fight escalates to that point."
Barrera and Rivera were arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for fighting in public and public intoxication.
