Mayor's Freeway Cleanup needs volunteers to assist with de-littering the freeway off- and on-ramps May 18. Vests, helmets and trash bags are provided. Saturday, May 18, at the Kern County Fairgrounds, volunteers are needed to work two shifts 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m or 1 p.m.--5:30 p.m. (125 volunteers are needed for each shift). Volunteer Center of Kern County and the Bakersfield Diamond Divas are hosting an event to kick-off our annual fan drive, Saturday, May 18. Doors open at 5 p.m. at Skateland, 415 Ming Ave. Attendees are encouraged to bring a cooling fan for distribution to low-income seniors.
