At 5:26 a.m. Tuesday, Bakersfield police responded to the 800 block of 33rd Street and found a victim of domestic violence.
The investigation revealed that on Monday evening Robert Ivan Golthwaite Sr., 24, of Bakersfield, arrived at the victim's residence. During an argument, Golthwaite pushed the victim to the ground and held her down.
He pulled out a gun and threatened to kill the victim. Golthwaite then struck the victim with the gun, leaving visible injuries.
Golthwaite left the residence, but returned the next morning and again threatened the victim's life. The victim was able to convince Golthwaite to leave and she contacted law enforcement.
Bakersfield police found Golthwaite in the 1100 block of McNew Court and arrested him. Officers found an airsoft pistol in his vehicle which was believed to have been used during the domestic violence incident.
Golthwaite was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault, spousal abuse and criminal threats.
