The Bakersfield City Fire Department personnel doused an electrical fire and a suspicious blaze in two sperate incidents Friday night.

Fire fighters were sent to a structure fire at 6:39 p.m. in the 900 block of Pebble Beach Drive, according to the department. Firefighters extinguished the fire in a living room in less than five minutes, containing it to that room with slight extension into the attic.

An electrical short behind a television caused the fire.

At 10:47 p.m., fire fighters were dispatched to a blaze in a vacant home in the 600 block of Butte Street. The small house was about 60 percent gulfed in flames when fire fighters arrived and they put out the fire in less than 10 minutes, fire fighters said. The house had been boarded up and the fire was considered suspicious. There were no injuries.

Arson investigators were called and the cause of the blaze was determined to be arson.
