SAN DIEGO -- Mackkenzie Zinger had an RBI single and Ashley Carter an RBI double in a two-run seventh inning for Cal State Bakersfield to give the Roadrunners a 3-2 win over the University of San Diego in the second game of a Pacific Coast Softball Conference doubleheader Sunday.

San Diego won the opener 5-0.

Winning pitcher Kelsey Moore got a popup and strikeout to end the game after USD had scored and had runners on second and third with one out in the seventh.

Karissa Veiga tripled to lead off the fourth and scored CSUB's first run on Shay Fryer's RBI single.

Veiga had a single and double in the first game but San Diego pitcher Cassidy Coleman tossed a four-hit shutout and Chloe Kaneko had two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

CSUB is 13-25 overall and 4-8 in the PCSC.

CSUB plays host to No. 22-ranked Hawaii Tuesday at 1 p.m. then concludes its home schedule with doubleheaders against Saint Mary's next Saturday and Sunday.

CLAREMONT -- Senior Sara Nielson had a personal-best 1:05.23 in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the Pomoma Pitzer Invitational to move up to No. 10 all-time on Cal State Bakersfield's career list.

Nielson was 18th in the event in a large field that included athletes from programs such as UCLA, Pepperdine and Southern Utah. Jamara Scott was 10th in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet.

The CSUB men were led by Gabe Holland, who was 10th in the hammer (168-9) and 13th in the discus (153-7). Bryan Wilmert was 14th in the shot (45-41/2) and 14th in the hammer (162-2). Derek Stotler was 12th in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:53.32).
