Bring your friends and family to the Great American Cleanup with Keep Bakersfield Beautiful Saturday. The Great American Cleanup Crew still needs 200 volunteers to help clean up trash and illegal dump sites at intersection of East Planz Road and Cottonwood Road. Park anywhere on East Planz. Cleanup runs from 8-10 a.m. T-shirts and supplies will be provided to all volunteers, and free lunch and fun activities will follow the cleanup at Yokuts Park. For information call 326-3539.

The Great American Cleanup Crew also needs some 200 volunteers to help clean up trash along the Kern River, 8-10 a.m. Saturday. Celebration follows at Yokuts Park. Volunteers are asked to park in the lot on Lorraine Court next to UPS at 3800 Sillect Ave. 326-3539.

The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of Relay For Life. Event takes place May 4 and 5, and help is needed with the Guinness World Record Challenge. The Mayor's Freeway Cleanup needs volunteers to assist with de-littering the freeway off- and on-ramps. Vests, helmets and trash bags are provided. Volunteers will meet at 8:45 a.m. The next freeway cleanup is April 20. Meet at the Park & Ride lot on Stockdale Highway, west of Oak Street. Travel by bus/van to the various cleanup locations and return by 11 a.m. Other cleanup dates are May 4 and May 18. For additional information please call 326-3770. If there is adverse weather (active rain or fog), cleanup will be canceled.

Do you want to help victims of domestic violence? Alliance Against Family Violence if offering two 40-hour certification training sessions with both domestic violence and sexual assault crisis training. Sessions will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6-10 p.m. for five weeks. Domestic violence training is April 22-May 22, and sexual assault training is June 10-July 10.
