A memorial service for Highland senior Derrick Duff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday.

The service will take place at Valley Bible Fellowship, 2300 East Brundage Lane.

Duff, a captain and the leading scorer for the Scots' basketball team this past season, was a passenger in a Jeep early Saturday morning on Highway 101 near Santa Maria. He died after being thrown from an out-of-control vehicle, and struck by other vehicles.

JC golf

Neil Bautista and Travis Millwee each shot a 5-over-par 77 as the Bakersfield College golf team placed sixth among the seven Western State Conference teams in this week's WSC tourney at Santa Maria Country Club.

Sidney Wolf led team winner College of the Canyons with a 4-under 68. Teammate Travis Bergmon shot a 68.

Canyons (367) was followed by Santa Barbara (378), Glendale (379), ventura (385), Hancock (387), BC (397) and Citrus (401). Other BC scores: Jake Jacobus (80), Paul Cooper (81) and Kevin Antongiovanni (82). Monday's WSC event will be at San Dimas CC in Glendora.

NBA D-League

Brian Butch (totaled 27 points and 18 rebounds, and Damion James added 26 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Bakersfield Jam to a 124-94 victory over the Reno Bighorns.

Bakersfield (34-14) shot 55 percent from the field, including 14-of-25 from 3-point range, and held Reno to just 40 percent shooting.

Shan Foster had a season-high 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, for Bakersfield.
