Shafter Police were called Thursday, March 14 by a juvenile who said she fought off a male who was trying to kidnap her, according to the Shafter Police Department.

Police Sgt. Gustavo Olvera said the 15-year-old girl was walking home when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her and began to drag her a few feet before she hit him with her arm and was able to get away. She ran home and contacted police about 3:45 p.m., he said.

Through the investigation, Shafter residents Juan Ignacio Hernandez and Carlos Barbosa Lopez, both 22, were arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and booked to Kern County Jail, the sergeant said.
