An apartment complex fire in Bakersfield is still under investigation after the Bakersfield Fire Department received a phone call at 8:46 p.m. Sunday.
According to Battalion Chief Scott Strandridge, a two-story apartment building caught fire on the second floor on Sparks Street, near South Union Avenue and East Pacheco Road.
Three engines, two trucks and nine units were on the scene. Although the apartment was unoccupied when the BFD arrived, three residents arrived after the fire had been controlled, with minor injuries and soot covering them, Strandridge said.
Damage to the building was estimated at $45,000, firefighters reported.
Further investigation is being done to determine the cause of the fire.
