Three people were wounded early Saturday morning when gunfire erupted at a large party in the 400 block of Columbus Street in Bakersfield, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Kern County Sheriff's Office, responding deputies found evidence that at least one handgun had been fired several times.

Two gunshot victims were located several streets south of Columbus, authorities said in the release. One of the victims had been shot in the torso and the second was suffering from an arm wound. Both victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

As the investigation continued, the Bakersfield Police Department received a call from an area hospital reporting a third gunshot victim had arrived. The male victim declined to report the location where he had been shot but was identified as a relative of one of the other two victims, the release said.

None of the victims are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Authorities did not release the names and ages of the victims Saturday morning.
