One person suffered major injuries in a crash early Friday morning that's believed to have been caused by a suspected drunken driver.

Evelyn Quirones, 21, of Wasco, was driving north on Highway 99 north of 7th Standard Road when she collided with the rear of big rig, according to California Highway Patrol officers. Quirones' vehicle was pinned under the rear of the big rig and caught fire.

Officers said a second big rig came upon the scene, and its driver extinguished the fire. Quirones' passenger, Wasco resident Biridiana Rose, 26, suffered major injuries and Quirones suffered minor injuries.

Quirones was arrested and officers said alcohol may be a contributing factor to the crash.
