Bakersfield College has unveiled a new logo to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
The logo was designed by Keith Brandon, a 2005 Bakersfield College graduate who went on to graduate, with honors, from Cal State Northridge.
BC announced a community-wide competition for the design of the centennial logo in December. It will be emblazoned on all centennial event signage and in the Bakersfield College commemorative book.
Brandon's design was selected from more than 60 entries by a committee of faculty, staff and community members.
University of Phoenix and GOOD are sponsoring The Great American Teach-Off, a contest designed to reward deserving teachers with a grant to help fund education initiatives.
Two teachers -- one who teaches in kindergarten to 6th grade and one from grades 7 to 12 -- could win a $10,000 grant to spend on computers, field trips, school supplies, whatever they want.
The top 20 entrants will be chosen by an independent panel assembled by GOOD, an online community of people working toward improving their communities.
In March, the public will have five weeks to vote for two grant winners.
Visit www.good.is/GATO to submit a nomination.
