A Malibu man who was a passenger in a vehicle that left the roadway and overturned Monday died at the scene from his injuries.

Jay Ogawa, 25, died at 8:45 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 just south of Lerdo Highway, according to a coroner's office news release.

Ogawa was wearing his seat belt.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a 2008 Toyota driven by Eunice Hee Lee, 24, of Torrance was heading southbound on Interstate 5 south of Lerdo Highway in the No. 1 lane. Ogawa was one of four passengers.

Andrew J.H. Park, 22, of Granada Hills was driving a 2006 Nissan southbound in the No. 2 lane.

Lee changed lanes into the No. 2 lane, directly into the path of Park, causing a collision, a CHP news release said.

That caused Lee to go off the road and overturn into a dirt field, the CHP said.

Park's vehicle also veered off the road.

Lee, along with passengers Erica Krakovitch, 28, of Los Angeles; Jeanine Wilson, 21, of Newport Beach; and Priscilla Fu, 22, of Alhambra were taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, the CHP said.

The Buttonwillow office of the CHP is investigating.
