WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- The Bakersfield Condors scored five consecutive goals in the second and third periods Saturday night en route to a 5-2 victory over the Utah Grizzlies at Maverik Center.
After T.J. Battani gave Utah a 1-0 lead early in the first period, Bakersfield bounced back with two second-period goals. Brett Lyon tied the game with less than five minutes remaining in the period, and Francis Verreault gave the Condors the lead with a power-play goal less than three minutes later.
Bakersfield continued that momentum into the final period, when Francis Meilleur scored on the power play just over two minutes in, and Peter Boyd and Brett Perlini scored for a 5-1 lead midway through the period.
Utah scored a goal with 28 seconds to go in the game.
Bakersfield's victory earned the team a split in the two-game series at Utah -- the Grizzlies won 5-3 on Friday. The Condors trail Utah by eight points in the standings.
Utah outshot Bakersfield 50-35. Condors goalie Scott Greenham made 48 saves.
The Condors travel to Ontario on Monday for the team's final game before the All-Star break. The Condors don't play again at Rabobank Arena until a Feb. 1 game against Colorado to open a three-game homestand.
