Highland High was placed on lockdown for a short while Monday morning after two armed burglary suspects were spotted in the area, Bakersfield police said.

The school went on lockdown about 11:20 a.m. and the lockdown was lifted about 10 minutes later when police arrested the suspects. Police said the suspects never entered school grounds.

Two guns, one a shotgun, were recovered, police said. One suspect is a juvenile, the other is 19-year-old William Sanchez.

Both were booked on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property and conspiracy, according to police.
