A 40-years-to-life sentence was handed down to a shooter who opened fire during a family feud and ended up missing his intended target and killing a woman in a wheelchair.

Ricky Ladon Davis, 31, was sentenced Monday morning in Department 3 after being found guilty of second-degree murder, according to court records.

The April shooting occurred when Davis confronted his girlfriend's father in the 3400 block of Grassotti Court and tried to shoot him, according to police. The gun misfired, and when Davis tried firing again he struck his girlfriend's 60-year-old aunt in the chest.
