A man robbed a Chase bank in Oildale on Thursday after threatening a teller by saying he had a weapon, said Kern County Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt.
At about 2:40 p.m., deputies went to the Chase at 2314 N. Chester Ave. on a call of a robbery. A man had walked into the bank, approached a female teller and demanded money, Pruitt said. He told her he had a weapon, but the weapon was not seen, Pruitt said. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and the man fled.
Witnesses outside the bank saw him running away, then getting into a pickup truck and driving away, Pruitt said. The truck is described as an early 2000s, dark blue possible Ford F-150.
The man is described as white and in his 40s. He was wearing prescription glasses, a white hat and a blue flannel shirt.
No one was injured in the incident, Pruitt said. The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the robbery and determine if the suspect was captured on surveillance footage.
