More than 6,000 people were without power Thursday afternoon due to two downed power lines, said Pacific Gas and Electric spokeswoman Jana Morris.

The first outage was from 3:08 to 4:12 p.m. and affected 3,174 customers. The was caused by a wire that was down at the corner of 18th and V streets, Morris said. The second was from 3:32 to 4:36 p.m. and affected 3,400 customers. The outage was caused by a downed wire on the corner of Fairfax Road and Pioneer Drive.

Both wires were restrung, Morris said. An investigation will be done into why the wires broke, but Morris said it would be safe to say the rain was a contributing factor.
