Dwight Yoakam is hoping to relaunch Bakersfield Biscuits and other country-style food brands.

Country singer Dwight Yoakam has long been a fan of Bakersfield and its influential musical history, so much so he launched his own food product called Bakersfield Biscuits.

That led to frozen-food spinoffs like Chicken Lickin's fries and rings, and Take 'Ems riblets and burgers.

Modern Foods, the company that produced the products under license later folded, however, leaving Yoakam with a bad taste in his mouth (ba-da-boom!).

That's why Yoakam is actively seeking new licensees for the biscuits.

"I don't want to go into details yet," Yoakam recently told The Wall Street Journal Speakeasy blog. "Hopefully we'll relaunch with something that will live up to [the brand's] full potential as an artistic, aesthetic, culinary and business venture."

Can the singer who brought "Streets of Bakersfield" back to national spotlight do the same with Bakersfield Biscuits?
