At 8:51 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a report of a man fondling himself in the presence of children in the 1600 block of Pacific Drive in east Bakersfield.

The suspect, Mario Diaz-Sarmiento, 25, was found in the 1400 block of Williams Street and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. He resisted arrest and attempted to remove the deputies' guns from their holsters.

Deputies deployed a Taser on Diaz-Sarmiento, but it had no effect. Deputies continued to struggle with him, and a resident who lives in the area assisted deputies in taking Diaz-Sarmiento into custody.

Diaz-Sarmiento was arrested on suspicion of resisting a peace officer, attempting to take a peace officer's gun, felony resisting arrest, indecent exposure, public intoxication, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
