Bakersfield College fell 71-69 in overtime to visiting Santa Barbara College after the Renegades rallied from a 16-point deficit in the second half.

The Vaqueros led by 16 with six minutes remaining before BC (1-2) rallied behind a relentless half-court trap and 15 second-half points each from Brittany Smith and Khiylah Dean.

Taylor DeSilva hit the go-ahead free throws with 13 seconds in overtime for Santa Barbara (4-1), which led 23-18 at the half.

Emilee Parks missed a 3-pointer at the overtime buzzer for BC.

Smith finished with 16 points and six rebounds. Dean had 20 points and three steals.

BC struggled from the free-throw line, going 19-for-36. The Renegades showed improvement, however, missing their first five and making their last nine.

BC next plays at the Santa Ana Tournament, opening against Moorpark on Nov. 29 at 4 p.m.
