A man who was stabbed multiple times was taken to a hospital early Sunday morning and the man police believe is responsible was arrested, according to a Bakersfield Police Department news release.

Officers were called to a residence in the 2500 block of K Street at 12:12 a.m. for a report of a peace disturbance and possible stabbing.

They found a 39-year-old man, whose name was not released, bleeding from stab wounds, police said. The man was reported to be in stable condition.

Officers arrested Barney Daniel Simons, 41, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and willful infliction of corporal injury at the scene, the news release said.
