The Los Padres National Forest is making Veterans Day weekend a "fee free" weekend.

From Saturday to Monday, visitors will not need a National Forest Adventure Pass in all areas of the forest except for the Santa Barbara Ranger District's Lower Santa Ynez Recreation Area, according to a news release from the U.S. Forest Service.

Even though the Adventure Pass fee is waived for the weekend, other fees including campground, reservation and group site fees may still be applicable, according to the news release.

National Health Services, Inc., is a nonprofit that provides medical services for underserved communities in western, eastern and northern Kern County.

The organization's CEO, Francisco Castillon, gave the gift cards out at health centers in Wasco, Oildale and Shafter, according to a news release from the organization.

Hall Ambulance is donating ambulances, medical and firefighting equipment to Bakersfield's sister city, Queretaro, Mexico.

Hall founder and Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall will donate the equipment in a ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, according to a Hall Ambulance news release.

Later in November, Hall and the Bakersfield Fire Department will send staff members to Queretaro for the second time to conduct training with the city's local EMTs, paramedics and firefighters.

A $5,000 grant will help underprivileged youth in Frazier Park attend a summer camp put on by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County.

Edison International awarded the grant to the Boys and Girls Clubs, according to a news release from the club. The grant will go toward allowing children to attend the camp for free or at a reduced price.

During the camp on the Frazier Park School campus, children go on field trips, explore the community and participate in enrichment programs to not lose what they've learned in school over the summer.

The benefit supports a program that helps veterans connect with employers, schools and other resources to find careers in the agriculture industry, according to a news release from the International Agri-Center.
