About 10 a.m. Sunday, bail enforcement agents were trying to locate a suspect at a residence in the 1800 block of G Street in Wasco.
The suspect, 37-year-old Richard Rubio, had failed to appear in court and violated the conditions of his bail. The bail enforcement agents had received information that Rubio was armed with a gun and contacted the Kern County Sheriff's Department for assistance.
Deputies responded to the home and tried making contact with Rubio or other occupants, but were unsuccessful. Deputies established a perimeter around the home and requested the SWAT team respond.
SWAT deputies tried for several hours to make contact with Rubio or occupants of the home. At 4:49 p.m., deputies deployed a flash bang into the home and almost immediately thereafter two suspects approached the front door and were taken into custody.
A shotgun and ammunition were found.
One of the suspects taken into custody was Rubio. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court, a warrant for possession of methamphetamine for sale, an open charge of being a felon in possession of a gun, on suspicion of three counts of being a felon in possession of ammunition and delaying or obstructing an investigation.
The second suspect, 46-year-old Isaac Sanchez, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a gun, three counts of being a felon in possession of ammunition and delaying or obstructing an investigation.
