VISALIA -- Mitzi Ibarra had two goals and D.J. Vidal added a goal to lift Bakersfield College to a 3-0 non-conference soccer win at College of the Sequoias on Wednesday.

Ibarra took advantage of a misplay by the Sequoias goalkeeper to steal the ball and score the first goal. Vidal added a penalty kick for the second goal just before halftime and Ibarra scored after receiving a cross from Carla Medina 30 seconds into the second half. BC (4-1) is at Ventura on Friday.

Taft sweeps Columbia

SONORA -- Taft College opened Central Valley Conference volleyball play with a 25-16, 25-10, 25-20 win over Columbia College.

Chanel Cantere had 11 kills and 10 digs for the Cougars (8-3 overall). Madison Lawley had four stuff blocks and six kills. Tiffany Mapusaga had five kills and nine digs in limited play and Tyra Williams, who has been bothered by a back injury, had four kills and seven digs in her season debut.

BC golfers place 3rd

SAN DIMAS -- Bakersfield College placed third out of five teams at the third Western State Conference mini-meet of the season at the par-72 San Dimas Canyon Golf Club.

BC shot 366 to trail Glendale (324) and Canyons (336). Individually, BC's Cambria Ullrich shot an 87. Taylor Kurtz (90), Chelsey Roberts (91) and Melissa Lopez (98) rounded out the team scorers and Andrea Marquez shot a 101.

Rooter bus for BC

Bakersfield College is offering a rooters bus for fans interested in attending Saturday's 6 p.m. football game at Ventura.

The cost is $25 per person and space is limited, according to BC athletics director Ryan Beckwith. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
