An 38-year-old motorcyclist was killed just before 1 p.m. Friday on Tehachapi Boulevard.
Tehachapi resident Heath Crowder was riding a motorcycle east on Tehachapi Boulevard at the on-ramp to eastbound Highway 58 when he collided with the rear wheels of a semi trailer, according to a Tehachapi Police Department news release. Crowder died at the scene of the crash.
Police were called to the crash at 1 p.m. and found Crowder under the trailer's rear wheels. From their preliminary investigation, police said Crowder was approaching the highway on- and off-ramps as a tractor-trailer driven by Deborah Van Dyke, 52, of Coppell, Texas, was coming west on Tehachapi Boulevard.
The semi turned left in front of the motorcycle and Crowder wasn't able to avoid hitting the rear wheels of the trailer, the police department's news release said. He likely died on impact, police said. Van Dyke and her passenger were not hurt.
No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued, according to police. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police department at 822-2222.
