Born in Henrietta, Okla., in 1948; Lives 30 miles west of Nashville


• Family moves to Bakersfield in 1957; Ronnie, 8, takes guitar lessons from Andy Moseley

• Appears on Cousin Herb Henson’s “Trading Post” TV show in 1958, at age 9

• Becomes a regular on “Trading Post” for three years

• Signs first recording contract with Pike Records at age 9

• Invited onstage to sing at age 10 during Grand Ole Opry show at Bakersfield Civic Center. Ronnie steals the show and is invited to finish out tour with troupe

• Breaks into Top 10 on MGM Records with Hoyt Axton’s “Never Been to Spain” in 1968

“I Never Go Around Mirrors” makes No. 6 on the chart in 1968

“Wiggle Wiggle,” first single on MCA Records, goes to No. 4 in 1969

• Records two albums for MCA, “Ronnie Sessions,” released in 1969, and “Ronnie Sessions Live” in 1970.

• Earns his most profitable songwriting credit (co-writer Ray Willis) for “When I Play the Fiddle,” on Kenny Rogers’ 1977 album “Lucille”

• Retires from the music business in 1987 with 10 career Top 10 songs
