Bakersfield College is making an interesting pitch -- thought up by marketing students? -- for dining at the Renegade Room over the summer. The restaurant, run by the culinary department, under the tutelage of chef Suzanne Durst, is serving dinners from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays "that will warm your heart and cool your body," according to a BC media release.

Dinner entrees are $12.95, plus tax. Dinner salads and sandwiches start at $8. The atmosphere is relaxed and the dress is casual. Some interesting standouts on upcoming menus -- available at bakersfieldcollege.edu/renegaderoom -- are lamb burgers, warm duck salad and portobello/red pepper sandwich.

The Renegade Room Restaurant is located in the Family and Consumer Education (FACE) Building at Panorama Drive and Mount Vernon Avenue. Free parking is available near the restaurant. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 395-4441.
