BLOG: Day 1 of high school football practice: Hear from new coaches

First day of fall camp for Kern County football teams began Monday morning with teams like Liberty and Centennial getting a sunrise start to the month of August.

I went out to five practices today, all with teams learning a new coaching staff and vice versa.

Starting with Centennial, I headed down to Bakersfield Christian and over to Independence in the morning sessions. I then went up to Garces and North in the afternoon under the 100-plus degree sun.

Here are five things I took away from Day 1 and what the coaches and players had to say about it.
