Gainey's two-hit shutout sends Tehachapi to D-II finals

VISALIA — Sagun Gainey is lanky and lean and sports a playoff haircut that’s a cross between former WWF wrestler The Ultimate Warrior and Charlie Sheen’s character Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn in “Major League.”

No matter the look, Gainey has been a leader for the Warriors all season and took it up a notch with a two-hit shutout as No. 5 Tehachapi defeated No. 1 Visalia-Mt. Whitney 2-0 in the Central Section Division II semifinals on Tuesday at Mt. Whitney.
