Nancy Chaffin, Vice President, Human Resources
In her role as Vice President, Human Resources, Nancy oversees all aspects of the Human Resources function including organizational development, labor relations, safety and workers compensation.
Nancy returned to The Bakersfield Californian in 2002, in her current role, after spending a number of years in human resource management at PG&E, ARCO and ChevronTexaco. Chaffin had previously worked at The Californian as a supervisor in Finance and in the Production Department as a production coordinator.
A native of Bakersfield, Chaffin received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Bakersfield.
Nancy’s community involvement includes support of California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) where she serves on the Alumni Board of Directors, is a past-President of the Board and currently chairs the Alumni Hall of Fame Committee. She is a member of the Community Outreach Committee at CSUB and a previous member of the Committee to Select the President. She is also President of A Life Interrupted and serves on the steering committee of the local chapter of The Compassionate Friends. Nancy is a local and national member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Previous community involvement includes Junior Achievement and Make A Wish Foundation.
