Ginger Moorhouse, Publisher and Chairman of the Board
Ginger Moorhouse is publisher of The Bakersfield Californian and chairman of The Californian's board of directors. She is also president of The Bakersfield Californian Foundation, which donates funds to non-profit organizations in Kern County which are dedicated to education and the arts. She is a fourth-generation owner of The Bakersfield Californian, a newspaper purchased by her great-grandfather in 1897
She is also a director of San Joaquin Bank, a foundation board member for California State University, Bakersfield and a member or the UC Merced foundation board. She is involved on several local committees devoted to youth and education and is currently President of the California Newspaper Publisher's Association.
Prior to joining The Californian, Moorhouse worked for a newspaper in New Hampshire, taught school and owned and operated a retail business. She earned a B.A. in political science from the University of California at Berkeley, a teaching credential in secondary education from San Francisco State University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Rivier College in New Hampshire
In 2003, Editor & Publisher Magazine named her Publisher of the Year.
