BC uses 3-run 4th to beat Citrus

GLENDORA -- The Bakersfield College softball team put together a three-run fourth inning to claim a 4-1 victory Thursday at Citrus.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Cassie Greek led off the fourth with a double and Kory Marko and Cassie Greek each hit RBI singles.
BC is now 20-12 overall and 7-5 in the WSC.
'Gades fall at Citrus in baseball
GLENDORA -- Ricky Orton went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Juan Martinez added two hits and an RBI, but Citrus still beat the Bakersfield College baseball team 9-7.
BC's comeback attempt fell short with the tying run at first base when a ground-ball fielder's choice ended the game.
The Renegades were rained out Tuesday, but they return to the field Saturday at 1 p.m. to take on Los Angeles Valley at home. A makeup game for the rainout with Citrus has been rescheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. at BC.
Taft falls to Fresno
FRESNO -- Fresno City College scored three runs in its final two at-bats to defeat Taft College in Thursday's Central Valley Conference game.
The Cougars (10-15, 5-8 CVC) led 3-1 heading into the ninth, but a two-run bloop single in the eighth and a two-out, two-strike swinging bunt with bases loaded in the ninth proved to be the difference.
Taft scored its runs in the fifth, capitalizing on four hits and a throwing error.
Brad Conradi led off with a double and moved to third on a single by Todd Nunez. Nunez stole second and Kyle Williamson followed with an RBI-single. Justin Whiteside also had a run-scoring single in the inning.
Cougars' starter Josh Herback-South pitched 71/3 innings, striking out five without a walk.
Taft softball team loses
Jalen Garcia provided the only offense for Taft College's softball team in a 10-2 loss to Merced.
Garcia had a two-run home run in the third inning. Taft's Tiffiny Pease went 2-for-3.
BC dominates in tennis
SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Bakersfield College (10-2, 7-1 WSC) swept all six singles matches and only lost one doubles match Thursday to beat Cuesta 8-1.
Sarah Ramirez and Jamie Mitchell each won their singles matches before teaming up to win their No. 1 doubles match 8-2.
