The six band members met while attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, together and were unified by their interest in spreading the word of God to younger generations through music. David Crowder, the band’s lead vocalist, said the group uses music to articulate its faith.

“We enjoy making music, but I think what our end is is to connect people to God, and if that’s happened, then we’re really thrilled about being in this space with them,” he said.

David Crowder Band will join Mercy Me and Tenth Avenue North at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cal State Bakersfield Amphitheater for The Moment Tour. Mercy Me is a contemporary Christian band best known for its song “I Can Only Imagine.” Florida-based band Tenth Avenue North released its first album titled “Over and Underneath” in May.

Tuesday’s concert will be David Crowder Band’s first trip to Bakersfield.

“We’re excited to finally make it there, so hopefully it will be a good crowd,” Crowder said. “If you’re not familiar with us, then you just need to come ready to sing along.”

Crowder said the band will play a mix of songs from older albums and its most recent limited edition album, “Remedy.”

“In the summertime, we just want to get everybody out there and have a good time singing together, so it will be a little bit of all of it,” he said.

Crowder said he loves the ever-changing features of live music.

“Each place has a different feel to it,” he said. “Even at different venues in the same city, each time we do it just feels like a different experience to me.”

Tickets for the concert are available at Berean Christian Store and Jesus Shack for $20 to $50. Tickets are also available online at Jesusshack.com.
