Corey Ray Johnson, Joseph Kevin Dixon and David Lee Jr. were arrested in March in connection with multiple shootings in 2007, according to a recently unsealed search warrant. They are believed to be Crips gang members.
In one of the incidents, Vanessa Alcala, 19, and James Oliver Wallace, 21, were killed April 19 in front of 1313 McNew Court. Alcala’s 12- to 14-week-old fetus also died.
In the March 21 shooting, a man ran up and shot Edwin Dwayne McGowan who was standing in front of an apartment complex in the 300 block of Monterey Street, according to a search warrant. The suspect continued to shoot McGowan as he fell to the ground, a witness told police. McGown was injured in the shooting.
Johnson’s girlfriend told investigators that he told her about his involvement in the shootings, the search warrant said. She said Johnson had beat her.
Cell phone records traced a phone left at a shooting to one of the suspects and a MySpace page showed suspects discussing the crimes, according to the search warrant.
Johnson, Dixon and Lee are each charged with three counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and other charges, according to court records.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court in August.
