Man in critical condition after beer festival fight

A Bakersfield man was in critical condition following a fight at a beer festival over the weekend.

Kevin Johnson, 29, suffered a serious head injury Saturday in a fight at the Festival of Beers in Stramler Park, police said. He was taken to San Joaquin Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses told police Johnson and another man, Matthew Reed, 33, of Bakersfield, got into an argument about 4:30 p.m. and Reed hit Johnson on the side of the neck. Johnson fell to the ground.
Reed ran away and was arrested Monday at 12:15 p.m. on suspicion of felony battery, police said. He was booked into the Kern County Jail on $25,000 bail.
