U.S. Army Spc. Matthew McCool checked in Monday at the Palo Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, according to his father, Brian Wilcox. He was being treated at Walter Reed National Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
McCool suffered multiple skull fractures and a concussion from a bomb about two weeks ago in Iraq.
McCool is doing fine and is undergoing physical therapy, Wilcox said.
The soldier asked his dad how he could thank everyone who has supported him.
“Recover,” Wilcox told his son.
