Bakersfield museums offer priceless (as in free) experience to kids

The “staycation” — annoying buzzword, sensible concept — will be a little more sophisticated this summer thanks to local museums that want to give families a financial break.

For those opting to spend their vacation closer to home, the Kern County Museum, California Living Museum, Buena Vista Museum of Natural History and the Bakersfield Museum of Art are offering a free child admission with every adult admission purchase in August.

Adults should present identification with a Kern County address to receive the special admission rate.

BAKERSFIELD MUSEUM OF ART

Open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
