The city Department of Recreation and Parks and sponsor Barber Honda will offer the Movies in the Park series at Bright House Networks Amphitheater at the southwest park each Wednesday until July 2. Neighborhood parks will offer free kid-friendly flicks starting June 6.
“Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Ratatouille” and “Enchanted” are a few of the movies in the lineup, said city parks special projects manager Terry McCormick.
If you like your movies in unconventional settings, bring a pool raft to McMurtrey Aquatic Center for Float-In Movies June 13 (“Free Willy”) and July 18 (“The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep”).
Aquaphobes, there will be room for you on the deck. These flicks will cost you, but they’re a lot cheaper than the cineplex at $3 a person and $10 for families.
The park movies begin at dusk, so show up around 7:30 p.m., said McCormick. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and because we’re living in a West Nile world, insect repellent. Popcorn, snacks and soda will be available.
