Better Bakersfield will air weekdays at 9 a.m., following FOX 58’s new morning newscast, said Tracy Peoples, director of promotions and marketing for sister stations KBAK-TV, Channel 29, and KBFX-TV FOX 58.
Better Bakersfield will feature news on food, fashion, fitness and decorating.
“It’s a combination of your favorite lifestyle magazines: Better Homes and Gardens, Fitness, MORE magazine,” she said.
The pre-recorded hourlong show will include reports from regional and national correspondents.
Channel 29 reporters Keith Jones and Amy Carabba will host and also report local stories. The first episode will include features on local karaoke recording party business American Sound Recording Studios and a GPS tracking company.
The show will follow the new Eyewitness News from 7 to 9 a.m. on FOX 58, an extension of KBAK’s 5 to 7 a.m. morning newscast.
The morning team of Jeff Lemucchi and Siemny Chhuon will continue the broadcast with weather and traffic updates into the late morning on FOX 58.
“The idea is we’re working around our viewers’ schedules and there’s a whole new audience just waking up at 7 and there’s nowhere for them to turn,” Peoples said.
