Legends of Jazz series continues with Akagi

The Legends of Jazz concert series at CSUB continues Friday night with a performance by Kei Akagi.

Kei Akagi will perform at the CSUB Legends of Jazz concert Friday.
A noted pianist and composer, Akagi has played with Miles Davis, Al Di Meola and Stanley Turrentine in his career. He's also recorded as a solo artist, according to his bio.
"He's a fantastic player. He's really inventive," said Doug Davis, chairman of the music department at CSUB. Akagi also teaches music at University of California, Irvine.
Davis expects Akagi will tell stories as well as play his own compositions.
The Legends of Jazz series includes three concerts a year and has featured pianist Ahmad Jamal, big band arranger and trombonist Sammy Nestico, trumpeter Gerald Wilson and the band Oregon.

Admission: $16 general admission, $10 students.
