Wasco will celebrate its annual Rose Festival this year with a variety of events. The rose is one of the main commodities grown around the city. This year the festival also will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the town.

Today
Early evening: Tennis tournament at Wasco High School
6 p.m.: Rose Queen Pageant at Wasco High School Auditorium
Friday
Early evening: Tennis tournament
7 to 10 p.m.: Honored guest reception/Evening of Wine and Roses
Saturday
7:30 to 10 a.m.: Pancake breakfast at the First United Methodist Church, 1441 Seventh St.
7:30 a.m.: Jr. Woman’s Club Fun Run, Westside Park
Morning: Tennis tournament continues
10 a.m.: Festival Parade from D and Seventh streets to Poplar Avenue to Barker Park
11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Pit barbecue lunch at Barker Park, south end
11 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Art Show and Fair including an indoor gallery show at the Veterans Memorial Building and an outdoor art fair at Barker Park
Noon to 4 p.m.: Rose Show at the Veterans Memorial Building
Tours of rose fields will also be conducted at this time, leaving from the southwest corner of Barker Park Noon: Parade Awards Ceremony at Barker Park, south end
1 to 4 p.m.: Wasco Historical Museum open to the public at 918 Sixth St.
Sunday
7 to 10 a.m.: VFW and Wasco Historical Society’s Pancake Breakfast and Museum Tours starting on the corner of Sixth and E streets.
Morning: Tennis tournament continues
