Castle & Cooke is bringing forth a map for a commercial project at the southwest corner of Harris and Gosford roads. Before construction can begin, though, a consultant will have to survey the area for burrowing owls. It’s a protected species.

Some 837,336 square feet of office and warehouse space may occupy the western chunk of land. That development would use 139 acres. There’s also a 55-acre parcel that could accommodate commercial uses. The parcels are south of the Gosford Village shopping center and near a proposed 50-acre commercial project, Panama Grove.

The commission will consider:

• A two-year extension on a map developer Global Investment and Development LLC is working on land near Highway 178 and Comanche Road. The land used to be owned by KB Home. At a July meeting, concerned residents raised issues about drainage and lot maintenance on the nearly 20-acre site. Those individuals met with Global’s representatives to resolve their complaints. If approved, the map with 84 single-family lots will expire May 31, 2010.

• A map for a subdivision at Gosford Road and Ming Avenue that would add 104 single-family lots to the existing University Park development.
