Under the theme “Adding Reserves Through Collaboration, Innovation, and Technology Transfer,” this year’s conference offers integrated technical and continuing education programs that you won’t want to miss.

It’s Sunday through Friday at the Holiday Inn Select and Bakersfield Convention Center.

The robust educational program includes technical, poster and panel sessions. An excellent collection of short courses and field trips and rewarding student activities are also being offered.

Add to those the depth of technology ready for display from the capable list of exhibitors, and you will be ensured every opportunity to greatly expand your professional knowledge and experience. There will be plenty of social events and networking opportunities to enjoy as well.

Even though this conference is held in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, the region’s diverse petroleum regimes will be well represented. Highlights of Alaskan activity along with topical Los Angeles basin and California coastal presentations and posters are included.

Excerpts from conference welcome letter:

We are fortunate to have William M. “Bill” Cobb (2008 SPE president) and Scott W. Tinker (2007-2008 AAPG president-elect) as keynote speakers for the SPE and AAPG luncheons, respectively. Many deserving individuals from each organization will receive awards at these events. We wish to offer our congratulations to the recipients and thank them for their service. We trust that many of you will join us in honoring the keynote speakers and the award recipients by attending these luncheons.

Monday, we will open the conference session at 8:30 a.m. with a panel discussion “Next Generation EOR in the Western United States: Reservoir, Economic, Logistical and Technical Considerations.” Panel members include Ed Behm, Vintage Petroleum; Kevin Kimber, Chevron; Gordon Moore, University of Calgary; and Malcolm Pitts, Surtek, with panel moderation by Phiroze Patel, Aera Energy LLC.

Joyce Holtzclaw is with Nations Petroleum and Roy Burlingame is with Dynamic Graphics, Inc.
