Ex-Jam guard Cleaves signs with Denver Nuggets

Mateen Cleaves, who played two stints with the Bakersfield Jam, was signed by the Denver Nuggets, the team announced.

In 15 games last season with the Jam, Cleaves averaged 19 points, 10 assists and five rebounds, while shooting 53 percent.
Cleaves, who led Michigan State to an NCAA championship in 2000, was the 14th overall pick in the NBA draft. He was the Jam's first selection in the 2006 NBA D-League Expansion Draft.
