Michael Dallas Jr. (3-0) won a 4-round unanimous decision Thursday at Tachi Palace in Lemoore over Christopher Finley (0-1) of Detroit. All three judges scored the fight 40-36. Dallas' next fight will be July 16 at the Pechango Casino in Temecula. He will be on the undercard of Hasim Rahman-vs.-James Toney match.
Edward G. Dudley-Robey, 34, of Bakersfield set an American Franz Powerlifting Federation submaster bench press record in the 165-pound division with a 402-pound press at the June 22 2008 AFPF So-Cal Push-Pull in Sherman Oaks. This lift also set California open and submaster records along with ranking as one of the Powerlifting USA top 100 of all-time for the 165 class.
Dudley-Robey's next competition is scheduled to be in September as a member of Team USA at the GPC World Championships in Birmingham, England.

BASKETBALL
The second annual NIKE basketball camp will be July 14-18 at Beardsley Junior High School and Standard Middle School. The camp will run each day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost is $255 and includes a pair of NIKE basketball shoes for each camper. This year's camp will be offense oriented. CROSS COUNTRY
— McFarland High's cross country program is hosting 5-K runs July 8 and 22, and Aug. 5 and 19. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for high school students and $3 for middle school or elementary school students. Runners who run at least three races will receive a T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top 10 in each of the three divisions. Races start at Whisler Road and Mast Avenue, a half-mile west of Highway 99 (McFarland exit). The out-and-back course will be run on loose dirt through almond, cotton and grape fields. Call 667-2547.
FENCING
— Bakersfield Fencing Academy will be having its summer camp July 7-17. Classes will run from 9 a.m.-noon Monday through Thursday each week. Ages 8-80 and all levels of experience. Equipment available for use. Fee is $75 for one week and $150 for two weeks. VOLLEYBALL
— The United States Youth Volleyball League opens early registration for the upcoming fall season. The eight-week program gets kids active and teaches fundamentals such as serving, passing, setting and spiking. The league meets Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. at O.J. Actis Junior High. The season begins Sept. 9 and ends Nov. 1. Registration can be completed online at www.USYVL.org or you can request a form by calling 1-888-988-7985. The USYVL also has volunteer openings for coaches, instructors and program coordinators.
— Former Centennial High volleyball standout Jackie Bernardin, who played at the University of Texas and University of San Diego, will conduct summer camps for youth girls. Bernardin has coached at University of San Francisco and currently coaches at the University of New Mexico. The cost is $275 for the three-day camps. Girls ages 12-18 are eligible to participate. YOUTH STARS
The Bakersfield Southwest Baseball 12-year-old Bronco All-Stars went 4-0 to win the 2008 Santa Ynez Pony Baseball Summer Classic. The Bronco All-Stars won the championship against Simi Valley 7-6. Team members include Mason Perryman, Allan Winans, Junior Felix, Drew Allen, Nolan Cooney, Zach Tanner, Carver Tippitt, Cameron Moore, Alex Noriega, Nick Parke, Zac Sullivan and Chris Sakowski. The team is managed by Steve Morrison and coached by Randy Tippitt and John Cooney.
The NorthWest Baseball Cal Ripkin League 8-year-old All-Stars went unbeaten to win the Visalia Tournament on June 17, a week after winning the San Luis Obispo tournament. The local team was led by the strong pitching staff of Noah Hemphill, Jared Toothman, Luke Pendergrass, Easton McMurray and Andre Martinez. The NW Stars will play this weekend in the state invitational tournament in Kerman and is seeded No. 1.
