Harvick, who wrestled all four years while attending North, will be returning to Bakersfield on June 18 for "A Night Out with Kevin Harvick" at Stramler Park — a fundraiser for a fieldhouse at North High.

The planned $1 million fieldhouse will be used primarily by the wrestling team and when Harvick heard that, he was "all in," said North High Principal Bryon Schaefer.

"We're fortunate when somebody who has achieved the success on the scale that Kevin has chooses to be supportive of North High and, in particular, our wrestling program," Schaefer said.

In addition to Harvick and his No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet race car, the event, catered by Famous Dave's, will include entertainment provided by three bands. There will be a raffle as well as live and silent auctions. Among the items up for bid will be a guitar autographed by Harvick and Merle Haggard.

Cost is $55 for adults and $15 for children ages 3-10. Tickets may be purchased at North High (cash only) or any Vallitix location.

Harvick, currently fifth in NASCAR Sprint Cup points, started his rise toward the highest level of stock car racing by winning a Late Model Championship at Mesa Marin Raceway while still a junior at North.
