How many of us have ever wanted to just up and quit during the middle of our jobs?

Our readers recommend:

Probably quite a few, although few ever act on those impulses.

Condors goaltender, now former Condors goaltender Michel Robinson, did just that Saturday night before the third period in Bakersfield's 8-5 win over Stockton.

Leading 5-4 after the second period, Condors coach Marty Raymond decided to put Yutaka Fukufuji in goal for the third period. As the period was abut to begin Raymond looked down the bench and did not see Robinson where the non-playing goaltender usually sits.

"I asked my trainer where the goaltender was and he told me he was packing his bags, he quit," Raymond said. "I can understand if he was mad at me, so be it. But how do you just quit on your teammates like that?"

Robinson was suspended by the Condors on Monday and now Raymond is scrambling to find a back up for the final eight games of the regular season and a possible playoff run.

"It's tough," Raymond said on Wednesday of trying to find a replacement goaltender this late in the game. "I've been on the phone working on it."

The Condors signed Robinson in early January and he was 6-3-3 in his first 12 games. Since then he has gone 1-6-0 with a no decision on Monday when he allowed four goals on 20 shots.

In other news, the Condors signed rookie defenseman Chris Kaufman, who was captain at Robert Morris University for his sophomore, junior and senior season. He will make his pro debut on Friday when the Condors travel to Fresno.
